Meridix Introduces New Identity Management Tools
Friday, January 26, 2007
NAPERVILLE, Illinois - Meridix announced today the completion of a new identity management infrastructure, which will allow the company's customers to create fully portable identities for players, coaches, staff members, and other individuals. Schools, organizations, and teams can now create online databases of individuals who are affiliated with their organization, and then use that information throughout the Meridix Broadcast Network for one-click creation of rosters, maintenance of statistics, and record keeping. In addition, a single invididual can serve multiple roles in the same organization, such as a player who is a member of two teams, and can be moved among teams with ease.
Schools and organizations have several flexible options when entering individuals into their online identity databases. First, schools have the ability to quickly create their own identities for each player or coach, by simply entering information into a number of fields. In addition, schools have the ability to add individuals to their database who create their own identities using an online process. In this manner, schools can simply request the MeridixID of the individual to add to their database, saving data entry time. Individuals also cannot change their information (address, phone, etc) once a organization has added them to their database, except through an authoritative process, which protects the integrity of the information.
While the system does assign a unique identifier to each individual (a MeridixID), proper names are used in virtually all tools so that individuals are handled by name. This decreases the amount of conversion necessary to match an individual to a MeridixID and vice versa - a coach can simply add "SMITH, John" to a team by name. Provisions are also made in the event that two individuals have exactly the same name. Another feature of the new Meridix identity infrastructure is the mobility of each person - an identity can be moved from team to team and organization to organization without losing the history of that individual. For example, if a student is on a team at one school, and transfers to another, that student's information can easily be transferred to another organization instantly. In addition, all of the student's history at the old school is preserved and available. Similarly, even within the same organization, an individual can remain in the organization's database from year to year without needing to re-enter that person's information.
